18 pedestrians struck, one senior killed in Toronto

Toronto, Oct 21 (IBNS): At least 18 pedestrians were struck by vehicles in Toronto.

One senior among them later died, reports said.

It was a tragic day on the wet roads on Thursday in Toronto and by noon 10 pedestrians had been hit by vehicles.

In the evening more collisions had occurred.

One pedestrian, a 63-year-old woman was attempting to cross mid-block in midtown Toronto, when she was struck by a vehicle.

She was rushed to the hospital but later died from her injuries.

Investigation for another incident of hit-and-run case in Scarborough is in progress.

The rainy weather and shorter daylight hours were believed to have made the road conditions dangerous.

Const. Clint Stibbe requested members of the public to be more careful while driving and walking to prevent the pedestrian fatality, which he called a “needless tragedy”.
