OYO adds 65 new properties in Ayodhya ahead of Ram Temple consecration

Ayodhya: Hospitality tech company OYO has revealed the addition of 51 homestays and 14 hotels in Ayodhya onto its platform ahead of the inauguration of the Ram Temple schedule on January 22.

As of January 17, a total of 65 properties have been introduced to the Ayodhya section of the platform, offering budget-friendly rooms with prices starting from Rs 1,000.

OYO reported a substantial 350 percent increase in searches for Ayodhya on its platform in the past year.

These 65 properties in Ayodhya have been added to accommodate the expected surge in tourism following the consecration ceremony of the Ram Temple on January 22, 2024.

To ensure efficient and timely operations, OYO has established partnerships with the Ayodhya Development Authority and the Uttar Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.

“We are delighted to welcome OYO's expansion in Ayodhya. These newly inaugurated properties will increase our accommodation capacity and ensure a smooth experience for the pilgrims. OYO's focus on local homestays aligns with our mission to empower Ayodhya's residents and showcase the city's cultural heritage through authentic experiences.

"We look forward to a long-term partnership with OYO in making Ayodhya shine as a beacon of spiritual tourism," said Brijesh Pathak, Deputy Chief Minister, Uttar Pradesh, reported Moneycontrol.

Deepa Malik, Independent Director, OYO said that they have also identified 15 OYO homestays in Ayodhya with ramps to make it convenient for divyang (handicap) devotees coming to Ayodhya, the report said.

Earlier this week, the company announced its intention to introduce 400 properties in prominent spiritual locations such as Ayodhya, Varanasi, Tirupati, and Katra-Vaishno Devi by the year's end.

This strategic expansion is driven by the increasing demand for spiritual destinations.

OYO is set to extend its presence in significant spiritual hubs across the nation, capitalizing on the upsurge in domestic travel and growing interest in spiritual tourism.

The company is preparing to launch properties in well-known destinations, including Ayodhya, Puri, Shirdi, Varanasi, Amritsar, Tirupati, Haridwar, Katra-Vaishno Devi, and the Char Dham route by the conclusion of this year.
