Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan turns 68

Mumbai, Apr 9 (IBNS) Bollywood actress Jaya Bhaduri Bachchan, turned a year older as she celebrates her 68th birthday.

Jaya, the wife of Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan and mother of actor Abhishek Bachchan, was born in 1948 in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur.

An alumna of Film and Television Institute of India, Pune, Jaya made her celluloid debut with Satyajit Ray's Mahanagar in 1963, while still a teenager. Her first Hindi movie was Guddi (1971). She later  went on to collaborate with her 'Guddi' director Hrishikesh Mukherjee on a number of projects.

Jaya is a Padma Shree awardee, having won it in 1992.

A member of the Rajya Sabha from Uttar Pradesh, the seven-time Filmfare Award winner also won a special Filmfare Award for her role in Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, her come back film after a lond indefinite sabbatical from work.

On her birthday, Jaya, who is outside India, was greeted by her husband and son among other netizens.

Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, "Raat ke din beet gaye .. aur 9 ki tareeq aa gai .. janm din ki shubhkamanayein .. Patni ko .. jo videsh hain."

Her son, Abhishek Bachchan posted a picture on his Instagram account and wrote: "Happy birthday Ma. There will never be enough words in the world for me to express how much I love you."
