Christopher Nolan's 'Dunkirk' is all set to release in India on July 21

Los Angeles, June 29 (IBNS): Three times Oscar nominated writer/director Christopher Nolan returns with his most anticipated epic action thriller 'Dunkirk'.

The film is based on the early stages of Second World War where thousands of British and allied troops were trapped on the beach of Dunkirk with their backs to the sea surrounded by the enemy.

Known for his nonlinear storytelling, practical special effects, and analogous relationships between visual language and narrative elements, Nolan wrote the story of Dunkirk with the intention to tell it from three perspectives – air, land and sea.

Speaking about this unique style of working of Nolan, actor Fionn Whitehead said, “I think the thing that makes Chris so unique is that he has his own vision for this piece of art he’s creating and he’s completely in charge, which is an amazing thing for an actor. It gives you a bit more breathing room because you’re not trying to tend to anyone else’s needs.”

Joining Fionn Whitehead the film’s ensemble cast includes Oscar nominated actor Tom Hardy (Inception, Mad Max, Revenant, Dark Knight Rises), five times Oscar nominated actor Kenneth Branagh (My Week with Marilyn, Hamlet, Henry V), Cillian Murphy (Inception, The Dark Knight Trilogy), Tom Glynn-Carney, Jack Lowden, Harry Styles, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy and Barry Keoghan

The behind-the-scenes creative team on “Dunkirk” includes director of photography Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar, Spectre, The Fighter), production designer Nathan Crowley (Interstellar, The Dark Knight Trilogy), editor Lee Smith (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Elysium), costume designer Jeffrey Kurland (Inception, Bullets Over Broadway), and visual effects supervisor Andrew Jackson (Mad Max: Fury Road). The music was composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight Trilogy, Inception).

“Dunkirk” was filmed in France, Holland, the UK and Los Angeles and is set to release in India on July 21 by Warner Bros. Pictures.
