Aamir's Dangal racing towards rupees 300 cr

Mumbai, Jan 2 (IBNS): After a blockbuster week one, Aamir Khan's Dangal collected a whooping Rs 72.93 crore on the ensuing week and is racing towards the rupees 300 crore mark.

"#Dangal puts up a MASSIVE, HISTORIC TOTAL in Weekend 2... Collects ₹ 72.93 cr... All set to hit ₹ 300 cr mark in days to come," business analyst and movie critic Taran Adarsh tweeted.

"#Dangal is SENSATIONAL in Weekend 2... [Week 2] Fri 18.59 cr, Sat 23.07 cr, Sun 31.27 cr. Total: ₹ 270.47 cr. India biz. FANTABULOUS!" he added.

The biopic on Phogats, India's foremost wrestling family, took just 10 days to race past the INR 250 crore mark.

After wooing the domestic fans, Dangal has also managed to take the international market by storm.

"#Dangal continues to take GIANT STRIDES... Crosses $ 20 million... OVERSEAS - Total till Sun, 1 Jan: $ 20.82 million [₹ 141.60 cr]," Adarsh tweeted.

USA-Canada: $ 8.91 mn UAE-GCC: $ 5.81 mn UK: $ 2.99 mn
Australia: $ 2.01 mn," he said.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, it stars Amir Khan as former Indian wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and Fatima Sana Sheikh and Sanya Malhotra as wrestlers Geeta and Babita Phogat respectively.

Dangal released on Dec 23, 2016 in India.
