Woman and her child commit suicide in Kolkata, husband arrested

Kolkata, May 16 (IBNS): A middle aged woman, Arpita Ghosh, committed suicide on Monday by setting herself and her son on fire in south Kolkata's Santoshpur area, reports said.

According to reports, locals called in the police after seeing smoke coming out from an apartment at Santoshpur. Police from Survey Park Police Station rushed to the spot and recovered the burnt bodies of Arpita Ghosh and her child from the flat.

A suicide note was found in the apartment, where the woman claimed that her husband was responsible for the death.

Police arrested the accused husband.

He has been identified as Tarun Ghosh.

Police have started investigation into the matter.
