WB: Rajnath assess situation along Indo-Bangla border

Kolkata, Mar 31 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who arrived in West Bengal on Tuesday on a two-day visit to assess situation along Indo -Bangladesh boarder, was briefed by the Border Security Force officer at Chhit Balapukhri near Indo-Bangla international border.
The Social Organisations active in Cooch Behar area met the Union Home Minister and handed over a memorandum on Indo-Bangladesh Enclaves. 
 
Singh met the Border Guards of Bangladesh at Panbari Border Out Post (BOP) near Teen Bigha corridor, Cooch Behar, in West Bengal. 
 
He also met BSF security personnel posted in the area before leaving Teen Beegha corridor. 
 
Singh will visit BOPs at North 24 Paraganas and South 24 Paraganas of West Bengal on Wednesday. 
 
Meanwhile, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday raised questions Singh's visit Chhit-Mahal areas in Cooch Behar in north Bengal.
 
"Today Union Home Minister has visited Chhit-Mahal areas in Coochbehar, along with BJP MPs. Is it official visit or political visit #alerts," Banerjee said in tweet.
 
She said no prior discussion or consultation about the visit was made with the state government.
 
"It is customary to have prior discussion in such cases with State Govt. In a federal str, we must respect each other’s jurisdiction #alerts," she posted.
 
"No prior discussion or consultation about the visit was made with us. Chhit-Mahal & law and order fall within the jurisdiction of State Govt," she wrote.
 
"Even though I am now in North Bengal, with a prior programme, I have only received a fax message of his tour programme," Banerjee added.
