WB: Mamata questions Rajnath's visit to Coochbehar
Kolkata, Mar 31 (IBNS): West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday raised questions over Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh's visit Chhit-Mahal areas in Coochbehar in north Bengal.
Today Union Home Minister has visited Chhit-Mahal areas in Coochbehar, along with BJP MPs. Is it official visit or political visit #alerts," Banerjee said in tweet.
She said no prior discussion or consultation about the visit was made with the state government.
"It is customary to have prior discussion in such cases with State Govt. In a federal str, we must respect each other’s jurisdiction #alerts," she posted.
"No prior discussion or consultation about the visit was made with us. Chhit-Mahal & law and order fall within the jurisdiction of State Govt," she wrote.
"Even though I am now in North Bengal, with a prior programme, I have only received a fax message of his tour programme," Banerjee added.
Singh is on a two-day visit to West Bengal.
"On Wednesday, the Home Minister will visit border out-post at Angrail near Bangaon in North 24 Parganas district," read a government statement.
Later, he will also visit a floating out-post of BSF near Dhamakhali.
