Veerappa Moily speaks against Congress' stand on EVM

| | Apr 12, 2017, at 07:50 pm
New Delhi, Apr 12 (IBNS) : Opposing the stand of his party against the use of electronic voting machines, senior Congress leader Veerappa Moily on Wednesday said there is no question of going back to ballot system, reports said.

"There needs to be a high power committee. There is no question of going back to the manual voting. Going back to the manual is no progress. We need to go forward,” Moily told reporters.

His comment comes at a time when the Congress urges the Election Commission to review its stand on EVMs and try alternatives suggested to it.

Following the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Congress raised concerns about the possibility of EVMs being tampered with.

Congress leader P Chidambaram said all political parties, including the BJP,  have at some point of time raised serious doubts on infallibility of EVMs and his party has suggested to the poll panel various alternatives.
