U.S. to contribute $100,000 to cyclone Hudhud relief efforts
New Delhi, Oct 28 (IBNS): Chargé d'Affaires Ambassador Kathleen Stephens extended her sympathies on behalf of the American people to the people of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in India who have been affected by recent cyclone Hudhud, besides announcing for monetary aid for the victims.
Ambassador Stephens, in coordination with central and state authorities, announced that the United States will provide $100,000 to Plan India through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) to assist those affected by the disaster.
“The United States is committed to working with our partners to help those affected by the cyclone,” CDA Ambassador Stephens said.
Plan India will use these funds to provide emergency relief, including temporary shelter and non-food relief supplies, to thousands of families in remote villages severely affected by the cyclone.
USAID, which works in both disaster preparedness and response, is working in partnership with the Indian government, the private sector, and international organizations to promote disaster resilience through increased investment in disaster risk reduction activities.
