US-China climate deal not a pressure for India: Modi

| | Jan 25, 2015, at 11:27 pm
New Delhi, Jan 25 (IBNS) Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday said the climate deal between the United States and China will not put any pressure on an independent country India while there is a responsibility for all to leave for the future generation a clean world.

India  is not willing to yet toe the US and China line- as they signed a deal- to limit its carbon emission.

"India is an independent country and so we feel no pressure by the agreement between USA and China. But cimate change itself is a big pressure. Global warming itself is a big pressure. Whoever is worried about future generation should take it seriously," said Modi.

"I think this pressure should be on every country," said Modi, adding that he is responding to that.

Modi said that it wants to expand its renewable and clean energy sources in rapid pace and has been cooperating with USA on that front.

India earlier had said that the US-China deal on carbon emission is not so ambitious.
