Bengaluru/IBNS: The Karnataka High Court will hear a petition filed by Twitter India chief Manish Maheshwari, seeking a transit anticipatory bail in a police case filed in Uttar Pradesh in connection with the tweets and the videos shared on the microblogging site about the assault of a Muslim man in the state's Ghaziabad district.

The plea will be heard at 2.30 pm by Justice G Narendar, said an NDTV report.

Maheshwari approached the High Court two days after the Uttar Pradesh Police issued a summon asking him to appear and record his statement in Loni police station in Ghaziabad district within seven days, it added.

Media reports citing police sources said that he was expected at Loni police station this morning at 10:30 am.

On Monday, he had offered to record his statement with the police via video call but the police rebuffed the offer.

Police have also served notice to Twitter India's Resident Grievance Officer, Dharmendra Chatur, to report for questioning.
