Kolkata, Feb 18 (IBNS): Two fires broke out in different locations in south Kolkata on Saturday morning, with one claiming the life of a toddler, according to reports.

A massive fire reportedly broke out at a residential house in Kolkata's Behala area on Saturday morning, killing a three-year-old child.

According to reports, the fire was first noticed at around 8 am inside the house on Jayashree Bamacharan Roy Road under Behala Police Station.

A toddler and his elder sister were in the house and their parents were absent that time.

Locals managed to rescue the girl but could not save the three-year-old from the massive blaze.

At least two fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

The severely burnt kid was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

Police have started investigation into the incident.

Meanwhile, a minor blaze broke out outside a restaurant near Lord's Bakery Crossing area in south Kolkata's Lake Gardens area, reports said.

According to reports, a gas cylinder, which was dumped on the road by restaurant employees, suddenly caught fire at around 10 am.

At least three fire engines rushed to the spot and doused the blaze.

No casualty has been reported so far in the incident.

Due to the incident, traffic was disrupted at the area at the pick office hours.
