Three people injured in Assam serial blast

Guwahati, Dec 22 (IBNS) : At least three people were injured in four blasts in Lower Assam Kokrajhar district on Monday evening, police said.

The serial explosion took place at Patgaon area near Kokrajhar town and Gossaigaon area in the Lower Assam district.

Police said that three people were injured in twin blast in Kokrajhar.

"Suspected militants of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Sangbijit) had lobbed two hand grenades at Patgaon area where three people including a woman were injured. The militants also fired targeting to civilian," a top police official said.

Suspected militants also lobbed four hand grenades in Gossaigaon area where two grenades were exploded.

Security forces recovered two unexploded grenades from the area.

The injured persons were identified as Chatra Maya, Mon Bahadur, Purnima Roy and they had rushed to hospital.

Top police and army officials had rushed to the blast areas and launched operation against the militants.
