Three hardcore KPLT militants held in Assam

Guwahati, Feb 15 (IBNS) : The Security forces on Sunday have apprehended three hardcore militants of Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT), including its Finance Secretary and Auditor, from Assam's Karbi Anglong district, officials said.

Following a tip-off, the Army Red Horn division and the police had jointly launched operation at Karbirongsope village under Hamren sub division in the hill district and nabbed the militants.

Defence spokesman based in Guwahati said the security forces recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition in possession from them.

The nabbed militants were identified as Finance Secretary of the outfit Birton Timung alias Rock, Auditor Hemai Singh Kro alias Mysing and cadre Langtuk Ronghang.

The security forces had recovered a AK series rifle, two pistols with assorted ammunition, some incriminating stores in possession from them.

On other hand, police had averted major incidents in BTAD area while recovering 18.2 kgs RDX from Kokrajhar district on Sunday.

The police had launched operation at Serfangguri area in the district and recovered the huge quantity explosive from a house and arresting the house owner named Ramen Rabha.

"Suspected NDFB(S) militants had planned to major explosions in BTAD area by using the explosive, " a top police official said.
