Agartala, Mar 6 (IBNS): Three people have been arrested in relation to the vandalism unleashed in Tripura after the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) won the latest state Assembly election and virtually decimated the Left front, media reports said on Tuesday.

According to media reports, a Lenin's statue was vandalised and removed allegedly by BJP workers and supporters with the help of JCB in Belonia town on Monday.

There have also been reports of CPI-M party offices being vandalised. The CPI-M has also alleged that Tripura's new ruling party, BJP, ransacked homes of several CPI-M workers.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Tripura governor, Tathagata Roy, and DGP AK Shukla, to inquire about the unrest in the state, media reports said.

CM designate Biplab Kumar Deb has also said that no one will be spared and strict action will be taken against the people involved in the vandalism, reported NDTV.

Condemning the violence, tweeted the CPI-M party, "Post Poll violence in Tripura against the Left is the truth which mocks the PM's claims that BJP believes in democratic norms! What is happening in Tripura is a wholesale effort to bully, intimidate and spread a feeling of fear and insecurity among Left cadres and supporters."

Incidentally, on Mar 3, after BJP drubbed the CPI-M in the state assembly polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had tweeted. "While we are naturally delighted about the historic victory in Tripura, we will always have in our thoughts and prayers the BJP Karyakartas who lost their lives due to mindless Communist violence. It is due to their courage that the party has reached where it has today."

In a landslide victory in the northeastern state, the BJP-IPFT alliance bagged 43 seats as opposed to Left's 16 seats.
