They are India's pride: Modi speaks about Rio participants after Sachin's request

New Delhi, Aug 14 (IBNS): Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar on Saturday urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak something about the Indian athletes, who are participating at the ongoing Rio Olympics, in his speech on 70th Independence Day to boost up their spirits.

On getting the request, Modi said he couldn't wait till the I-Day and took it to Twitter to praise the athletes.

He said all the Indian athletes participating in the Olympics make India proud.

Modi posted: "Bharat Ratna @sachin_rt & one of India's most admired sportspersons wanted me to speak on India's athletes currently in Rio, on 15th August."

Modi appreciated Sachin thought on this and said India is proud of all the athletes.

He wrote: "I appreciate the thought of @sachin_rt but I want to add-why wait for 15th August to speak about the subject. I want to do so now."

"India is phenomenally proud of all our athletes in Rio & their hardwork that got them there. Victory & setbacks are all a part of life," he tweeted.

Asking all participants to play their games without any burden, Modi posted: "I urge all athletes who have their games remaining to give their best & play with determination, not get burdened by what the result will be."

"The endurance, determination & dedication of every Indian athlete who is in Rio makes us very proud. They are India's pride," said he.
