Suspended Congress MLA Ganesh accused of attempt to murder arrested in Gujarat

Benagaluru, Feb 20 (UNI) Suspended Congress MLA J N Ganesh in Karnataka, who was absconding since last one month after allegedly involved in brutally attacking fellow legislator Anand Singh at a private resort in the outskirts of the city, was arrested by a team of Bidadi police in Somnath in Gujarat on Wednesday.

Bidadi Police who had registered an FIR after receiving complaint from wife of Anand Singh on January 21, had formed three teams to arrest him the MLA on the run. A 17 member team succeeded in nabbing him from an undisclosed spot Somanath.

After the incident, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundurao had announced suspension of the Kampli MLA from Ballari from the party primary membership, he went missing.

The incident took place when the Congress Legislators were taken to Eagleton Resort fearing BJP making all efforts to woo Congress party Legislators under 'Operation Kamal' on Jan 19. During their stay in the resort, on Jan 20 night, it was alleged that Ganesh severely assaulted Anand Singh in a drunken brawl.
Anand Singh, who sustained series injury on his right eye and chest under went surgery in a Private Hospital and he could only attend the Budget Session of the State legislature on the day the Finance Bill was passed.

The Police team is expected to bring him to the city by today evening and produce before the Magistrate after completing arrest formalities and seek police custody as this was a case of attempt to murder.

Meanwhile, Ganesh who had filed application for anticipatory bail in the local court but had withdrawn it recently.
