Supreme Court rejects plea seeking transparent case allocation process

New Delhi, Apr 11 (IBNS): The Supreme Court on Wednesday rejected the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking a transparent case allocation process, media reports said.

The petition was filed after four senior judges of the Supreme Court came out in public to state everything in the top is not in order.

The judges made the allegations that Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra has been assigning cases of far reaching consequences to preferred judges.

However on Wednesday, a three-judge bench comprising of CJI Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud called the petition "scandalous".

Dismissing the plea, the bench said the CJI is the "highest authority" and can't be "distrusted".

In an unprecedented press meet in January, four senior most judges of the SC, Justices Jasti Chelameswar, Ranjan Gogoi, Madan B Lokur and Kurian Joseph, revolted against CJI Dipak Misra.

Questions are raised against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Amit Shah's acquittal in Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case.

The judges said they had approached Justice Misra with a complaint letter but failed to convince him.
