Srinagar, Feb 7 (IBNS): The trade between Srinagar Muzaffarabad at the Chakothi crossing point remained suspended for a second day on Saturday as a truck from Azad Kashmir was stopped by Jammu and Kashmir Police after it was reported to be carrying illegal imports.
Reports said Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday claimed to have seized 12 kilogram of brown sugar from a truck at Salamabad which was part of cross Line of Control trade between divided parts of Kashmir via Uri in Baramulla district of north Kashmir.

"During checking, 300 packets of brown sugar were seized from a truck driven by Syed Inayat Hussain Shah, resident of Kumikote Muzaffarbad," police sources were arrested by the State Police.

IBNS learnt from sources that brown sugar was seized from fruit boxes which were meant for one of trader in Baramulla which is owned by Zahoor Ahmad Malla, resident of Mir Sahib Old Town Baramulla.

"The consignment was sent by Mir Traders Muzzafarabad," a source said.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the truck driver as well as Zahoor Ahmad for whom the consignment was meant.

Twenty two trucks had arrived from across. "The 21 others crossed back," sources added.

Pertinently, on Jan 17 the Srinagar-Muzaffarabad LoC bus service remained suspended for the second consecutive week after a huge amount of brown sugar was earlier recovered from a Pakistani truck on the Indian side.

Initially, 'Karwan-e-Aman' bus service was suspended as well when a PoK bus driver was arrested after 114 packets of brown sugar were recovered from his vehicle at Salamabad in Uri trade centre.
