SP-RJD-JD(U) merger likely in April
New Delhi, Mar 30(IBNS) The merger of Samajwadi Party, Rashtriya Janata Dal and Janata Dal United is likely to take place by the end of April as the final round of consultations begin tomorrow.
Reports said Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is working out the modalities and is likely to head the new party.
The merged entity is likely to be called Samajwadi Janaa Party or Samajwadi Janata Dal.
The move for merger of the former Janata Parivar parties was announced last year by RJD chief Lalu Prasad after they got severe drubbing in the Lok Sabha polls. It was said that the merger will ensure BJP's defeat in the coming assembly elections in Bihar. "It is a permanent alliance. We have been missing it for long," he had said.
