Guwahati, June 15 (IBNS): Taking a serious look at the scarcity of construction materials mainly chips, sands etc, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday directed the state forest department to make the materials available within 10 days.

Chairing a meeting of PWD and Forest Departments at the conference room of Chief Minister’s Office in Janata Bhawan, Sonowal constituted a high powered committee with Additional Chief Secretary, PWD Alak Kumar and four other officers to assess the causes leading to the scarcity of the building materials.

It may be noted that following several complaints from different circles regarding shortfall of building materials, Sonowal convened an urgent meeting and directed the concerned authority to take the remedial steps so that construction activities do not face any bottlenecks because of the shortage of sand, chips etc.

The Assam CM also directed to expedite the repairing work of roads and said that he would take the review of the progress of the work every month on a regular basis.

Environment and Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma, Media Adviser and Legal Adviser to Chief Minsiter Hrishikesh Goswami and Shantanu Bharali, Additional Chief  Secretary to PWD Alak Kumar, Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Sanjay Lohiya and other senior officers of PWD and Forest Departments were present at the meeting.
