Sonia Gandhi pays homage to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak

New Delhi, July 23 (IBNS): Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Saturday paid homage to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his birth anniversary.

She said Tilak brought  new energies and vigor to the Indian national movement.

The Congress tweeted quoting Gandhi: "Congress President Smt Sonia Gandhi has paid rich tributes and homage to Lokmanya Bal Gangadhar Tilak on his birth anniversary."

"He brought new energies and vigor to the Indian National Movement, Smt. Gandhi said," the party tweeted.

"Bal Gangadhar Tilak will be remembered for introducing Swaraj as the concept of birth right of every Indian," it said quoting the party supremo.

"His contribution in strengthening and shaping the Congress Party and popularizing its ideas is phenomenal, she added," the Congress tweeted.
