Thiruvananthapuram, Apr 16 (UNI) Congress-led UDF candidate Shashi Tharoor, contesting from the Lok Sabha seat here, on Tuesday demanded a probe into the accident in which he sustained head injury at a temple on April 15.

Talking to newspersons here, Tharoor said he demanded a detailed probe into the situation that led to the accident causing injury to his head.

Tharoor sustained the head injury while performing 'Thulabharam' at Gandhari Amman temple here, leading to the cancellation of his election tour.

Though his condition is out of danger, repeated scan images of his head are being examined by an expert medical team, sources said.

Thulabharam is a practice in temples preforming weighing one against materials and offering to God.

He performed Thulabharam with Sugar, according to MLA VS Shivakumar, who was also with Mr Tharoor when the accident occurred.

Tharoor was injured when the iron rod of a balance in which he was sitting broke down. The rod fell on his head causing the injury.
