Seven awarded life imprisonment for murdering Dumka BJP leader in 2016

Dumka/UNI: A local court in Jharkhand's Dumka district on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to seven accused held guilty of the murder of local BJP leader and former Zilla Parishad Member Bhagwat Rawat six years back.

The court of District and Additional Sessions Judge Laxman Prasad also imposed a fine of Rs 2.10 lakh on the guilty.

Those punished by the court included Jaipal alias Shishupal Raut, Sambhu Raut, Pappu Raut, Chintu alias Narayan Hari, Kishore Yadav, Munna Dubey and Viplav Sharma.

A total of 24 witnesses were produced in the case.

Public Prosecutor Champa Kumari said that on May 3, 2016, Bhagwat Raut was shot dead on May 3, 2016, near his home at Mahuadangaal.

Initially, he was admitted to Sadar Hospital Dumka from where the doctors referred him to Durgapur but he died on the way.

Later in the case, the son of the deceased filed a named FIR against the seven accused.
