New Delhi, Oct 31 (IBNS) Using the platform for paying tributes to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Narnedra Modi on Saturday assailed the Congress for indulging in "dynastic politics."

His barb at the Congress, though without taking any name, came at the flagging off ceremony for the "Run for unity" on the 140th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

"Sardar Patel never indulged in dynastic politics. No family name or members are linked to his legacy," Modi said.

"We cannot forget Sardar Patel's contribution to keep the country united," he said.

"Soon after the freedom, Sardar Patel - also called the Loh Purush- worked with princely states to keep the country united from Kashmir to Kanyakumari."

The PM urged people to imbibe inspiration from Sardar Patel's  life and work for the country's unity and integrity.

Before flagging off the Run for Unity, PM Modi administered the pledge of National Unity to the people, including school children and paramilitary force personnel, who gathered there.
