Samsung Note 2 catches fire inside Chennai-bound flight

Chennai, Sept 23 (IBNS): Growing troubles for tech giant Samsung, a Note 2 smartphone was suspected to have caught fire inside an aircraft while it was landing in south Indian city of Chennai on Friday, media reports said.

The air crew staff noticing the smoke, had to use fire extinguisher, sources told the The Hindu Business Line.

The incident reportedly occurred inside an IndiGo aircraft.

No one was hurt in the incident.

According to media reports,  the Directorate General of Civil Aviation has asked airlines to make announcement to passengers on every flight, urging them to switch off the Samsung Notes while they are travelling in the aircraft.

Earlier, following incidents like batteries bursting into flames, the US Consumer Product Safety Commission has said that  around one million Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smartphones,manufactured by the tech giant, will be recalled.
