Salman Khurshid compares Hindutva with ISIS and Jihadist Islam in book, Ghulam Nabi Azad calls it 'wrong', 'exaggeration '
New Delhi/IBNS: Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad has criticised his party colleague Salman Khurshid for drawing a parallel between Hindutva and radical jihadist groups like ISIS and Boko Haram in his new book 'Sunrise Over Ayodhya'.
Azad pointed out that "comparing Hindutva with ISIS and Jihadist Islam is factually wrong and an exaggeration".
"In Mr. Salman Khurshid's new book, we may not agree with Hindutva as a political ideology distinct from the composite culture of Hinduism, but comparing Hindutva with ISIS and Jihadist Islam is factually wrong and an exaggeration," Ghulam Nabi Azad tweeted.

BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said Salman Khurshid's book on Ayodhya hurts religious sentiments of people and the Congress is weaving a web-like a spider against Hindus, according to media reports.
"In this book, Hinduism is compared to ISIS and Boko Haram," Bhatia was quoted by news agency PTI as saying.
He also questioned Congress president Sonia Gandhi's silence and said this stance would only assert that her party's ideology is also against Hindus.
"If you remain silent, then it will be clear that your ideology is also against Hindus," he said.
BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya, in a tweet said Khurshid's comparison was in line with his party's principles. "What else can we expect from someone whose party coined the term Saffron terror just to draw equivalence with Islamic jihad, to get Muslim votes?" he wrote.

The book on the Ayodhya verdict was released on Wednesday. After the release, Khurshid was criticised for drawing a comparison between armed Islamist groups responsible for killing thousands of people.
India Today reported that according to lawyer Vivek Garg, Khurshid, in his book 'Sunrise Over Ayodhya: Nationhood in Our Times', wrote: "Sanatan Dharma and classical Hinduism known to sages and saints were being pushed aside by a robust version of Hindutva, by all standards a political version similar to the jihadist Islam of groups like ISIS and Boko Haram of recent years."
Lawyer Garg said Khurshid made the remarks in a chapter called 'The Saffron Sky' (page -113), the report added.
