Haridwar/IBNS: Yati Narsinghanand, one of the religious leaders who organized an event in Uttarakhand's Haridwar in December that called for the genocide of Muslims, was arrested on Saturday, becoming the next person to be arrested after an intervention by the Supreme Court.

Jitendra Narayan Singh Tyagi, who was Waseem Rizvi before he converted, was the first accused to be arrested in the hate speech case during the "Dharma Sansad" or religious assembly.

Narsinghanand is among more than 10 people who have been named in the FIR lodged over hate speeches against Muslims.

Taking notice of the conclave, held between December 17 to 20, the Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Uttarakhand government to submit an affidavit within 10 days on action taken in the case.
