New Delhi, July 18 (IBNS): The Rajya Sabha, on Monday, resumed its session after it was adjourned for a brief period following a controversy created by a statement by BSP chief Mayawati, reports said.

Taking a potshot at the BJP, Mayawati alleged that the backward classes are suffering more ever since the present government was formed. She also said that it proves the caste-based mindset of the ruling party.

She referred to the recent incident which took place in Gujarat. Four dalit men were tied and beaten up by sticks for their alleged possession of cow skin

This caused an uproar and the house had to be adjourned.

Earlier, the RS observed a minute's silence for the victims of several terror attacks across the globe.
