Rajya Sabha , Lok Sabha adjourned once again, protests on demonetisation continues

Both the Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha will reassembly on Tuesday.

As the unrelenting Opposition continued to refuse the normal proceedings to go on since the day one of the Winter session, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to  participate in a debate on his withdrawal of 500-and 1,000-rupee notes, 

Modi on Monday morning met senior ministers in Parliament that has not been fruitful so far.

In the Rajya Sabha,  Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said, “We demand discussion over the move to demonetise Rs 500 and Rs 1000 notes in both the houses, but in the presence of the Prime Minister since he announced the move.”

Congress MP Anand Sharma says, “Even the Constitution does not allow the Prime Minister or the government to deprive the citizens of their money and property, especially bank accounts. Not one Bill was tabled in the House. The Prime Minister and the government must answer.”

“We have always been open to debate on the issuefrom day one since the announcement. We are all here to speak for the government. But if the Opposition is so much adamant, Prime Minister will come to the House and will intervene," he said.

in the winter session which began on November 16. Opposition parties, too, rallied inside the Houses and on the streets to protest.

Meanwhile, according to reports, top ministers have been in touch with Opposition leaders, holding parley to break the logjam that deters Parliament from dispensing with normal business.

At least 10 opposition parties are marking Monday  as a day of protest against demonetisation with the Left parties observing 'Bharat Bandh,' a nationwide shutdown.

The opposition said it is the PM who has forced the bandh by refusing to explain his decision in parliament, as demanded repeatedly.

The Congress and others say they agree with the intent to combat black money and do not seek a rollback but want urgent measures to stop the hardship of the cash-strapped people, especially in rural India.
