New Delhi/ Rajpur, Dec 1 (IBNS): Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday strongly condemned the deadly attack by Maoists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh which resulted in the killing of at least 13 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, including two officers.
"Deeply saddened and disturbed to know of 13 CRPF men being killed by the Naxals during an ongoing encounter in Chhattisgarh," Singh tweeted.

"It is an act of cowardice. I strongly condemn this dastardly act of violence," he posted.

Regretting the loss of lives, Singh wrote: "I express my condolences to the families of our brave CRPF men who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty."

The Minister also spoke to state Chief Minister Raman Singh and directed him to monitor the situation.

"Spoke to CM Chhattisgarh Dr Raman Singh and the DGP of the state and asked them to monitor the situation in the area," Singh tweeted.

At least 13 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel, including two officers, were killed on Monday in one of the deadliest attacks by Maoists in Sukma district of Chhattisgarh  this year, officials said.

While more details of the ambush on the CRPF patrol party are awaited, an official said it occurred at a place which is 10 km south of Chintagufa, in Sukma district.

Reports said Maoists used villagers as human shields to attack the CRPF men.

Maoists had fired at an Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopter in the state last month injuring CRPF men and an IAF commando.
