Rajiv Mehrishi takes over as CAG

New Delhi, Sep 25 (IBNS) : Former home secretary Rajiv Mehrishi on Monday took over as the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India, reports said.

He  succeeded Shashi Kant Sharma, who retired on on Friday.

President Ram Nath Kovind administered the oath of office and secrecy to Mehrishi at a function in Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was attended by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, among others.

Mehrishi's  is a 1978-batch IAS officer (retired). His appointment was recently cleared by the Government.
