Rajasthan: Violent clashes in Jodhpur, internet shut

Jodhpur: Violent clashes were reported in the Rajasthan city here on Eid eve due to forceful removal of a flag and installation of another by a particular community.

The Jodhpur district administration has shut internet services in the entire district as a precautionary measure. 

Incidents were first reported from the Jalori Gate intersection of the city after miscreants put up a religious flag at Balmukand Bissa circle after removing another flag. 

When people from the other community objected to this act heated arguments between the two communities started turned violent. 

Stone pelting took place and police had to resort to lathicharge to disperse the crowd. 

Jodhpur Divisional Commissioner Himanshu Gupta ordered internet services to be snapped in the entire district. 

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has appealed to all communities to maintain peace cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order in the district. 

Large number of police personnel have been deployed to maintain calm in the district and adjoining.
