Poet Alok Sarkar to be conferred Sahitya Akademi Award at his residence tomorrow

Kolkata, Apr 27 (IBNS) Noted Poet Alok Sarkar will be handed over Sahitya Akademi Award on Thursday at his residence in Kolkata by the Regional Secretary, Sahitya Akademi at 6 PM.

"Due to health related problems the poet was unable to attend the Award Presentation Ceremony of Sahitya Akademi in New Delhi on 16.02.2016," read a government statement.

So, the Akademi intended to invite him in a literary programme in the presence of the Secretary at Regional Office, Kolkata.

However, Shri Sarkar could not come to the Akademi’s programme, Dr. Gopal Chandra Barman, Regional Secretary, Sahitya  Akademi decided to visit his residence to present the Award to the eminent poet.
