New Delhi, Apr 6 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday praised his officials, departments and organizations for evacuating Indians and non-Indians from war-torn Yemen.

In a series of tweets, Modi has praised his officials as he said: "Salute the services of our civilian & defence officials & organisations in helping evacuate our citizens from Yemen. Continue your efforts!"

He said: "Seamless co-operation between organisations- MEA, Navy, Air Force, Air India, Shipping, Railways & State Govts greatly helped in rescue work. Colleagues @SushmaSwaraj & @Gen_VKSingh (who has been on the ground for days), have co-ordinated evacuation efforts in an exemplary manner."

"I am also glad that India has rescued several non-Indian citizens from Yemen," he said.

Consequent upon the Government of India issuing an advisory for Indian nationals to leave Yemen, the Indian Air Force(IAF) has deployed heavy transport aircraft with alacrity,  in support of evacuation operations.

In a well coordinated operation involving multi agencies, IAF deployed  C-17 Globemaster III aircraft in six shuttles from Djibouti to Mumbai and Kochi.

During the operation, a total of 1146 Indians were evacuated from Yemen and brought back to India from Djibouti till date.
