PM Modi tops global leader list with 78% approval rating: Report

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emerged as the world's most popular leader with an approval rating of 78 percent, according to a survey by a US-based consulting firm 'Morning Consult.'

As per the survey results, PM Modi’s ratings far exceeded those of other leaders including US President Joe Biden, French President Emmanuel Macron and UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, ANI reported.

The "Global Leader Approval" survey covers data gathered from January 26-31, 2023, said the Political Intelligence research firm which collated a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country, with sample sizes varying by country, according to the report.

PM Modi garnered 78 percent of approval ratings, topping US President Joe Biden by a big margin who received 40 percent ratings.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez emerged as the second most popular leader with a 62 percent approval rating.

According to the data shared on the US-tracking firm's website, 78 percent of people approve of PM Modi while 18 percent disapprove of him, reported the news agency.

PM Modi's approval rating has recently improved further to 79 percent in the third week of January.

The list which ranks the popularity of world leaders is updated regularly.

Out of the 22 countries, currently, the last three in the list are Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store, South Korean President Yoon Seok-youl and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.

Italy’s newly elected far-right leader Giorgia Meloni, the first female Prime Minister of the country, is ranked 6th with 52 percent ratings.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese is in 4th place with a 58 percent approval rating.

Brazil's newly elected President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva took the 5th position with 50 percent ratings, the Canadian Prime Minister was 9th with 40 percent approvals and UK's Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was placed in the 12th position with 30 percent approvals.
