PM Modi meets Vice President of Cuba

New Delhi, Mar 23 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday received the Vice President of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez Mario here.

The Prime Minister recalled the close and multifaceted relations between the two countries that have been developed during the tenure of President Fidel Castro and nurtured by the successive generation of leadership.

The Prime Minister expressed support for greater cooperation, including in the areas of trade and investment, health, biotechnology, renewable energy, sports and human resource development between the two countries.

He appreciated the role being played by Cuba to support the cause of the developing countries, including in international fora.

In this context, he appreciated that Cuba had sent teams of doctors to the affected countries in Africa in the wake of Ebola Crisis.

Recalling his meeting with the leaders of the South American Countries during his visit to Brazil in July 2014, Modi reiterated the importance that India attached to its relations with the Latin American and Caribbean Countries.

The Prime Minister accepted the invitation to visit Cuba at mutually convenient dates that was conveyed by the First Vice President on behalf of President Raul Castro of Cuba.
