New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday virtually launched a 'Customised Crash Course' programme to train one lakh frontline workers for COVID-19.

While unveiling the programme virtually, the PM said, "Covid-19 is very much among us with a strong possibility of the virus being mutated. Hence, the country’s preparations have to be stepped up to meet the new challenges. We are working towards preparing 1 lakh frontline workers in the country."

He further said that the Centre is committed to providing Covid vaccination free to everyone.

He said that work to set up more than 1,500 oxygen plants is underway and efforts are on to reach out to every district.

Designed under the Central Component of Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana 3.0, with total financial outlay of Rs. 276 crore, the programme aims to train over one lakh COVID warriors across the country.

The training will be imparted in six areas-- Home Care Support, Basic Care Support, Advanced Care Support, Emergency Care Support, Sample Collection Support, and Medical Equipment Support.

As part of the programme, more than 1 lakh frontline workers will be imparted training across 111 centers in 26 states.

Modi launched the crash course via video-conferencing in the presence of Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Dr. Mahendra Nath Pandey.
