PM Modi in Mission Mode, directs 10 lakh govt jobs in next 1.5 years

New Delhi/UNI: In a major move, Prime Minister Narendra Modi Tuesday instructed 10 lakh employment by the central government in the next one and a half years, the PMO said.

The Prime Minister also asked the drive be held in "Mission Mode."

"Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Government in mission mode in the next 1.5 years," the PMO said in a tweet.

The Prime Minister's decision came in the midst of several opposition leaders who are criticising the government's policy on generation of employment.

A large number of posts are lying vacant in ministries and departments across various government sectors.
