PM Modi greets people on Vishu and Poila Boishakh

New Delhi/UNI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday greeted the countrymen on Vishu and Poila Boishakh.

Conveying best wishes on the occasion of Vishu, the Prime Minister, in a tweet, said, "Best wishes on the special occasion of Vishu, especially to the Malayalis settled all over the world. I pray for a year filled with utmost happiness and good health."

Vishu is a cultural festival (New year) celebrated in Kerala and neighbouring areas.

The festival falls in the middle of April every year.

The Prime Minister also wished joy, peace and prosperity on Bengali new year Poila Boishakh.

"Greetings on Poila Boishakh. This special occasion manifests the outstanding Bengali Culture. I hope that the coming year brings with it joy, peace and prosperity. May all your wishes be fulfilled," the PM wrote on Twitter.

The day marks the Bengali New Year and is celebrated by people in West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura irrespective of religious affiliations. The festival is also celebrated with great fervour in Bangladesh.
