PM Modi greets nation on Valmiki Jayanti

New Delhi, Oct 5 (IBNS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the people of India on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti.

"Greetings on Valmiki Jayanti," the Prime Minister's tweet read.

Hailing him as a great sage, Prime Minister Modi said, "A great sage & master litterateur, his rich ideals and works guide generations."

Valmiki, the harbinger-poet, who wrote in Sanskrit, is the author of the epic Ramayana.

The poet's life perfectly fits the description of sinners can be saints, as he himself started out as an infamous robber, Ratnakar, and after gaining enlightenment, took the name of Valmiki and devoted his life towards charitable and literary works.
