PM Modi blasts Pakistan for 'glorifying terrorism' in I-Day speech
New Delhi, Aug 15 (IBNS): In a clear attack to Pakistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech on Monday, said there is a difference between those people who were brought up under the influence of humanism and those who reward terrorism.
Addressing the nation from the Red Fort, Modi said when innocent kids were killed in the Peshawar school attack, every child in India felt the shock of the massacre, but on the other hand in the neighbouring country, "terrorism is being glorified."
Without naming Pakistan, Modi slammed: "When innocent people are killed in terrorist attacks, there are celebrations. What kind of life is this which is inspired by terrorism?"
"How governments are formed through inspiration of terrorism. The world will understand this difference clearly. That is enough for me," said he.
Modi said that people of Balochistan, Gilgit, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir have thanked him for drawing attention to their troubles.
"In the last few days, people of Balochistan, Gilgit, Pakistan Occupied Kashmir have thanked me, have expressed gratitude, and expressed good wishes for me," the PM said.
"The people who are living far away, whom I have never seen, never met - such people have expressed appreciation for Prime Minister of India, for 125 crore countrymen. This is an honour for our countrymen," he said.
Modi's comments come at a time when Pakistan High Commissioner to Delhi Abdul Basit on Sunday provoked India and said that his country will dedicate its Independence Day celebration to 'Kashmir's freedom'.
Pakistan on July 10 condemned the killing of top Hizb Commander Burhan Wani in Jammu and Kashmir by Indian security forces.
The neighbouring country also observed 'Black Day' on July 20 over the death of militant leader Burhan Wani.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had said Kashmir is not an internal issue of India.
