New Delhi, Apr 28 (IBNS): Union minister Piyush Goyal has been caught in the midst of a controversy as he has been alleged to selling a privately-owned company after becoming the coal minister in 2014.

According to The Wire, Goyal, who is now the Railway minister, sold his owned company to a private firm at Rs. 48 cr, four months after becoming the minister in 2014.

The company, which was sold to Piramal Group, was jointly owned by Goyal and his wife.

However, Goyal has reportedly did not mention the company in the declaration which was filed in the PM's office in 2014.

The report by The Wire states Goyal and his wife started Flashnet Info Solutions (India) in 2000 and had owned 99.9% of its stocks.

Hitting out at Goyal and PM Modi over the allegations, Congress President Rahul Gandhi tweeted, "It’s no secret that CA Piyush Goyal, the BJP Treasurer, has pried open the doors of every major corporate house for PM Modi. How then will the PM act against this Minister, caught red handed, misusing his power for 48 Cr. of personal gain?"

The BJP has dismissed all the allegations brought against Goyal.
