Pakistan ranger to return captured BSF jawan to India
Jammu, Aug 7 (IBNS): Pakistan Rangers on Thursday informed Indian authorities that the Border Security Force (BSF) soldier, who was swept to the neighbouring side by strong currents of Chenab river, will be freed and returned to India on Friday, reports said.
The Director General (DG) of Pakistan Rangers on Thursday said that they will soon return the BSF soldier who was captured by them, a CNN-IBN report said.
Earlier India raised the issue with Pakistan through diplomatic channels.
"Diplomatic channels activated! India raises with Pakistan through diplomatic channels issue of return of BSF constable," Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted.
The jawan was captured by Pakistani troops on Wednesday.
The BSF jawan was reportedly captured by Pakistani forces after he fell into the Chenab river in Jammu and Kashmir and was pushed by strong currents onto the Pakistani side.
The BSF earlier sought a flag meeting with the Pakistan Rangers.
