Pakistan fires at 20 BSF posts in Jammu, India retaliates

Jammu, Aug 18 (IBNS): At least 20 Border Security Force (BSF) posts were fired upon by Pakistan troopers in Arania and RS Pura sectors in Jammu since the wee hours of Sunday, prompting the BSF to retaliate and trigger a gunbattle, said officials on Monday.

Pakistan Army violated the ceasefire along the border leaving also the civilian population vulnerable. The firing came ahead of foreign secretary levels talks between the two countries on Aug 25 in Islamabad.  
 
BSF IG, Jammu, Rakesh Kumar said their troopers have also retaliated and gave a befitting reply. 
 
"Pakistan is making some desperate attempts but are frustrated," said Kumar. 
 
"We will lodge a strong protest with Pakistan," he said, adding that the situation is under control now.
 
Firing from both sides started in the wee hours of Sunday.
 
Earlier, a senior BSF official in Jammu  told IBNS that the Pakistani Army fired on BSF posts at RS Pura Sector during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday which continued till morning.
 
He denied reports of any casualty from Indian side .
