New Delhi, Aug 23 (IBNS): While Pakistani Rangers have resorted to heavy firing at Border Security Force (BSF) posts near the international border at RS Pura sector in Jammu district killing two civilians, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday said the Indian forces are responding effectively.

He said the Indian Army and the BSF are vigilant and that the country should have faith in them.

"Army and BSF are effectively responding to each violation. I have full faith that they are protecting the borders and the country," Jaitley said.

In a continued act of ceasefire violation, Pakistani Rangers killed two people and injured seven others on Saturday while firing heavily at Border Security Force (BSF) posts near the international border at RS Pura sector in Jammu district.

According to police sources, Pakistani Rangers fired indiscriminately at BSF posts in RS Pura Sector resulting in the killing of two villagers, identified as Muhammad Akram and his 13-year-old son Aslam. Seven others were seriously injured in the firing.

Police said that all the injured people have been shifted to Government Medical College, Jammu for first aid.

Reports from the area said that Pakistan Rangers were using heavy weapons to target the BSF posts.

Meanwhile BSF officer posted in RS Pora sector told IBNS that the force retaliated while the Pakistan troopers fired at least twenty times and targeted 17 forward outposts of the BSF in RS Pura Sector and Arnia Sector.

On Friday, more than 2,000 villagers from three villages close to the international border in RS Pura sector were migrated to safer places.
