Only heated arguments took place: Banerjee on Burn Standard Ltd

Kolkata, Feb 19 (IBNS): Denying reports that two officials of Public Sector Undertaking (PSU) Burn Standard Ltd were allegedly assaulted by workers owing allegiance to TMC trade union wing INTTUC, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday said 'only heated arguments with the management' took place on Wednesday.

"I have cross-checked all the information for three times from different sources. No assault took place.  There were some heated arguments with the management," Banerjee said while addressing a press conference here.

"No violence took place...I have asked our Chief Secretary to speak with the authorities," she said.

"They have suspended the work and this is not correct...I want a peaceful solution of the incident," she said.

Two senior officials of the company-Santanu Sarkar and Debashis Bhattacharya- were allegedly assaulted by a group of agitating workers.

Many casual workers of the factory were demonstrating close to the gate of the factory since Feb 11.
