Kendrapara/UNI: Odisha Police on Sunday arrested three persons for stripping a 24-year-old woman naked and assaulting her brutally over a family dispute on Friday at Koro village in this coastal district.

The action came after the video of the incident went viral on social media, Kendrapara SP Madakar Sandeep Sampat told newsmen, here on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Sarat Chandra Nayak (66), Niranjan Nayak (28), and Muna Nayak (36), of Koro village. All the trio were the relatives of the victim.

According to the SP, the woman, wife of Jitendra Pradhan of Tanara village, was staying at her in-laws house whereas her husband and her mother-in-law were staying outside the state.

However, her relatives several times claimed that the house in which she has been staying belonged to them and asked her to vacate the house.

She had filed a case at SDJM court and against her relative at Nikirai police station.
Aggrieved over the action of the woman, her relatives on Saturday arrived at the house to drive her out.

Later, they stripped her naked and went on assaulting brutally with lathis. When she shouted for help her uncle, Radhakant Rout came to her rescue but he was also beaten up and sustained brutal injuries.

The whole incident was shot which went viral on social media.

The SP said all the three have been booked under Section 341,294,307,354,506,323,34 IPC and were later produced before the SDJM court which remanded them to jail custody.

Meanwhile, raid is on to nab the other accused involved in this case, IIC of Nikirai police station Kabuli Barik said.

Those who made the video viral in social medias would also be nabbed very shortly, police sources said.
