NSUI makes major comeback, wins President and Vice President's posts in DUSU

New Delhi, Sep 13 (IBNS) : The National Students Union of India (NSUI), student wing of the Congress party on Wednesday made a significant comeback in the Delhi Univeristy, winning the posts of President and Vice-President in the students union polls, reports said.

The ABVP, student wing of the BJP, won the secretary and joint secretary posts in the election.

Last year, the ABVP bagged three posts while NSUI  won only the post of joint secretary.

For the first time since 2012, NSUI has bagged the post of the president in the Delhi University Students’ Union elections

While NSUI’s Rocky Tuseed has won the President post, Kunal Sehrawat has grabbed the position of vice-president.

ABVP's Mahamedhaa Nagar and Uma Shankar were declared elected respectively as General Secretary and  Joint Secretary.

Reacting to the win, NSUI on Twitter said, “A major comeback for us in #DUSU2017, students of DU have given us a huge responsibility to fight for their rights.

The elections were held on Tuesday with a turnout of 43 per cent.

Students from 51 colleges on  cast their ballot to choose the four central panel post in triangular fights involving the NSUI, ABVP and  and CPI-ML Liberation's AISA.
